Givers Gain – Making Someone’s Day Made Mine

For myself, I am all about creating an awesome high vibe life, and feeling awesome and high vibe everyday. What makes me feel most incredible, is boosting those around me and helping to make them feel incredible.

Here I am cruising around the streets of Palma De Mallorca, Spain, just enjoying a leisurely afternoon stroll. I was in the one of the main districts of Palma called the ‘Paseo de Born’, a beautiful spot always bustling with tourists in the summer. As I took a few minutes to sit on a bench to do some people watching, my eyes instantly got fixed on one man sitting on the bench straight across from me.

He was an older gentleman, dressed in a tattered little clown outfit. He was dosing in and out of sleep. To me, he looked tired and worn out. At his age he should be retired and enjoying life. Instead he was trying to create an income by putting on his little clown outfit everyday and making balloon animals to try and sell. My heart cords were struck, something about him made me want to do something nice for him. It’s almost as though I could sense he needed a positive boost.

I contemplated going and buying him a large bottle of water and a bite to eat and taking it to him, but I only had 5 euros in my pocket at the time. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do for him, I just knew I was going to do something to make him feel good.

As the gentleman arose off the bench to get back to work, I watched as he continually got turned down, and people would keep giving his balloons back and say no. He was exuding discouragement.

As he began to leave the area, he crossed the road, and was walking away, still trying to make sales to no avail. I got up and knew I had to take action before it was to late. I intended on making this mans day, and nothing was going to stop me.

Finally I caught up to him, and it happened to be right after he was once again turned down. I approached him and offered him 5 euros to buy a balloon. 5 euros really isn’t very much, but it’s all I had, and considering he would probably only get a few cents, maybe sometimes a euro for a balloon, I knew it would make him so happy.

Well let me tell you, he was over-joyed, his face lit right up, and he was giving me huge thanks, he was just as appreciative as I imagined, and a little more. My mission was accomplished – I made his day. Seeing him so happy over something so small, made me feel amazing.

Yes I live an amazing life, full of adventure and incredible experiences, but, unless I am spreading awesome vibes to others everywhere I go, it would never be truly fulfilling. What you put out into the world is what you get back. Some of us have more and some of us have less, but what is having abundance if not to share it.

When I put a smile on someone else’s face, it puts a smile on mine. Giver’s gain my friends. Happy days!

Summer Lovin’ In Mallorca

Summer is heating things up here in Mallorca, it’s always magical to be back in Mallorca, Spain. My other home, the place where my soul feels full. The heat is pretty intense, although life in Mallorca is always pretty hot. With endless activities and adventures to be had, I have been enjoying some stunning sightseeing around the island and making my list of everything I want to do while I am here.

The marina’s are always endlessly lined with yachts, which really makes me crave some sailing adventures. It feels like forever since I have been on the water with sails up.

Cycling is a huge sport here and another one of my favorite activities, the coastline does not disappoint when you are cycling down the bike path.

It is therapy for the soul as well as a heart pumping workout. That is a massive win in my books. I make it a point to get out and enjoy some good cycles.

I am always so impressed with these avid cyclists climbing mountains on the narrow steep roads around the island. It amazes me the terrain I see some of them on. Needless to say, I am not quite at that level.

The array of beautiful food you can get at the markets is something to be massively appreciated. Everything your heart could desire and then some is beautifully and proudly on display.

While in the market it is a must to indulge in a couple Spanish tapa dishes, adding a side of bubbly is never a bad idea either.

There truly is beauty to be appreciated around every other corner in the main city Palma de Mallorca. Palma always has an endless high energy vibe to it.

Catch ups and coffee dates are a favorite past time for me here as well.

I do love when it’s serve yourself kinda deal.

If your keen to cover a lot of surface area of the island in a day, then renting a car and cruising around is your best bet. The mind blowing beauty when you are driving through the mountains is always spectacular.

Sa Colobra is an incredible spot bursting with beauty, the perfect place to give your eyes a feast. The road to get there is known as one of the most scenic roads in the world. It was built in a way as to avoid making tunnels through the mountains. The road is built as though it is in the shape of a snake, weaving in and out, with more then 50 curves and sharp turns, and did I mention how extremely narrow they are. Definitely a road trip that you won’t soon forget.

Basking in the ambiance of Sa Colobra is well worth the drive.

I love the tunnels carved straight through the mountain, it is always a great way to cool down from the hot sun as the caves have a very chill temperature. The earthy smell inside is also pretty enjoyable.

img_9197

My advice would be to open your heart to take in all of the abundant beauty on offer.

You will never be short of incredible views and fantastic restaurants. This place called Rancho Grande popped out of nowhere while cruising the North of the Island, it was too enticing to pass up, and the sunset was perfectly ambiant for the occasion.

img_9223
At 10pm under the moonlight on the terrace you can enjoy a Spanish horse show, followed by a fine flamenco dance.

Sometimes the most spontaneous stops are the most memorable.

This road trip was finished off with a little pit stop and stroll in one of my most beloved places – the town of  Deia.

This beautiful town is build on the hillsides above the sea, and is oozing with charm and class. Some of the most expensive homes in the world reside on these mountains. I always enjoy a visit to this elegant little town.

Ahh yes, summer luvin’ happens so easy when your playing in Mallorca. This Island is truly a spectacular place.

Once upon a time in Mallorca

Mallorca continues to provide me with ample reason to absolutely love it. My love for this amazing place just never ceases to continually grow. As any good thing does – it just gets better and better with time. Winter in particular is my favorite time of year here. I love the temperature, its perfect for my Arctic blood. Not like in the summer, when I am sweating my ass off. Sounds attractive doesn’t it?! Just as classy as ever.

With holiday season approaching us, Palma pulls out all the stops to make it a magical experience – and its darn freaken amazing.

The whole city is decorated with lights, and not just a few lights. The effort put into it every year is incredible.Although, in Mallorca they always know how to throw a kick ass party, bringing thousands of people together all the time. The epitome of true urban living, on one the most beautiful islands on this planet. Oh I could go on about my love story with Mallorca forever…. And I most likely will.

November 27th, 2015, marked the day the lights get a good old power surge, and transform the city to your very own fairy tale. It’s undeniably romantic.

Just like the Northern lights back home in Northern Canada, the magnificence of this never gets old. They began hanging the lights a few weeks ago, and every day when I was seeing them, I was waiting in eager anticipation for them to be turned out. I wasn’t the only one. Literally they whole downtown and old town area of the city is covered.

It rocks my world, and it slows time right down. Every night when you are walking through it, you can’t help but stay in the moment and take it all in. It’s a beautiful thing when time almost stops for a bit, as life just seems to fly by, and I like to be present in every given moment. Just loving life. As I do.

Next weekend all the Christmas markets are beginning, and they are full of Mallorca’s finest local products. From hand crafted local artisan products, to local cheese’s, meat, olives, and goodies. Let’s not forget the Mulled wine! It’s the best winter beverage ever! Warm, spicy, and made with my fave juice, which just so happens to be vino. As we all know. Mmmmm, I can taste it now.  In the next couple weeks there are also going to be stages set up around the city with live music. Something for everyone to enjoy, bringing the community together. It’s gonna be epic.

Until then, I am still going to live in this moment, and enjoy the heck outta today. Why have it any other way? And yes, in case your wondering, I do believe in fairy tales.

Mallorca Film Fest and a Jet Leg Cocktail

Palma ambiance, classy venues, and an international film fest. Yes upon arrival back in Mallorca and learning about the 4th annual film fest, I was totally stoked to attend.

You know the times your eyes are bigger then your stomach. Well little did I know there also happen to be those times your excited eagerness fools you into thinking you have endless energy even after traveling like a rock star around Canada for a month and then back across the globe to Spain. Yes indeed, it happens.

Let me begin with the classy and chic opening party. Even though I was feeling shattered from my travels, there was no way I was missing it. Champagne, vino, and Palma’s finest in attendance. My kind of party.
IMG_5149
I was able to power through to enjoy it, schmooze and be awesome, without letting on to anyone that I was pretty much sleep waking. Come time for the opening film and I was seriously struggling. Yes, even though most think I am super human – I am here to tell you, I am not. I am just a damn trooper is what I am.
So off we went, from the pre-party to the theater.
image2 ff3
The theater itself where the opening film was shown was fabulous, and my taped open eyes thoroughly enjoyed taking it all in.

The movie was not my style, but I made it through. Barely. Once it was over, so was I, and I ever so gracefully sleep walked across Palma, and straight to my bed. Happy freaken days. One of those moments where there is no place like your bed. Beauty sleep was absolutely in order. Myself and sleepy eyes don’t get along. I much prefer not looking like I have been punched in the face by jet leg, totally losing, and left with two black eyes. I mean, that is if I don’t have too.
The film fest was on all week, so I knew I had plenty more to enjoy throughout the week.
I was however super stoked for the Friday evening shows. My friends and I had big plans to dress up, drink vino and play classy all night. Which we did.
The energies were high all throughout the place, everywhere except for within myself. Seriously, I never suffered jet leg in my life like this. Am I old? Is it age? Ummmm, let’s go with heck no! How about that. It was just a misunderstanding with me and my body.  A small mishap. I am as young as a spring chicken.
The evening was off to a fantastic start, the vino was flowing, there was loads of handsome eye candy for me to treat my eyes with, and I had a fab group of friends with me, whom provided loads of laughter.
ff7
We were just 4 people being awesome, at an awesome event. The first movie was at 930pm, so after our pre-party in the San Juan Gastromarket, we grabbed a bottle of wine and 4 glasses to take with us to the show. That’s just how we roll. This is Spain, and these things are not a problem here. It was gonna be so darn great. I love movies, awesome friends, and delicious vino. Who doesn’t really? Unless that is, you don’t consume alcohol, your a hermit, and you just don’t enjoy films. Otherwise, who doesn’t?! Checks my boxes. Check, check, check.
Now after getting all settled in, popcorn in hand – of course I kicked over my wine glass. Well not ‘kicked’ it wasn’t football. I set it down for a moment while I was getting comfy, accidentally tapped it, and it fell over and broke. Luckily we had a back up. Sometimes you can’t take me anywhere! Clearly. Don’t let my classy composure fool you. I do at times trip over my own feet. But it was all good – the show must go on!
And that it did my friends. It went on alright, without me enjoying it.
Have you ever slept through a whole movie at the movie theater?! Well neither had I until last week. Literally! All I can say is jet leg. I remember is the film beginning, and then next thing I know, I am waking up to the lights coming on. What the?! I looked at my friends, ‘Oh my god, are you kidding me, did I seriously just sleep through that whole film?!‘ To which they responded, ‘Yup,  you sure did‘. I right away asked, ‘OMG, why the heck didn’t you wake me up?!’ Well they said I looked so comfy and happy, that they were actually jealous of me. Not to mention, they did not enjoy the film at all, so assured me, I didn’t miss anything and made the right choice of napping.
Although it wasn’t by darn choice that I passed the freak out, my body made me do it!! If I had a choice I would have stayed awake, ate popcorn and drank wine, all while watching a bad film.
Oh well, what can I say, there is a first time for everything – and jet leg is really a thing. I was still able to go out dancing afterwards though! Trooooper!
ff8                                           Possibly I even looked fresher then before the movie.
I can honestly say, I was not as successful as I anticipated at taking in the film fest. I totally enjoyed the parts of it I did attend, and not sleep through. There was loads of awesome films, and fab talent. Maybe next year, I can go and leave the jet leg at home perhaps. Only me, only freaken me.

So who’s up for a movie date? Let’s not all jump up at the same time now. See you at the movies!

Ay Matey, it was an adult pirate show!!:)

IMG_0126

A good friend of mine was finishing on the Super Yacht that she had worked on for a couple years, and it was time for her to have a going away party.  So on this particular festive occasion we jumped ship and headed to the ‘Adult Pirate Show’.  pirate I always love a good reason to get dolled up and dress like classy ladies;)  The show is held in Magaluf, one of the big party spots of Mallorca.   In the summer Magaluf goes off, and is full of Endless bars, rides, shows, and people celebrating, stag’s, birthdays, graduations, promotions…. Well really any given reason to have a crazy celebration(even if it’s just celebrating being alive) is a reason enough for people to head to Megaluf and let LOOSE! It’s full of debauchery.

The pirate show has its own permanent venue, and this is their 29th year in production,  there is a dinner show for the whole family, or the late show for the more mature(well supposedly) audience;) With no food, only liquid diets.  The venue itself is great, it’s quite big, and has ample space to seat large groups of people.  After seated we got right in there and started with some Sangria.  For those of you whom are picky with your drinks, bare in mind this Sangria comes from a container, so it isn’t freshly made, but it does the job to wet your whistle while you decided what else you may like.  Literally, I personally can only have 1 of those prepackaged sangria’s, otherwise it’s sickly.

Lights, Camera, Action!  The lights dim and the music goes up, and the show begins.  There is a ring leader who comes out and does the talking and narration in between sets.  IMG_0137Dressed a little more risqué, and using sexual innuendoes when he is speaking, mainly to go along with the ‘Adult’ theme.  The acrobatics in the show is absolutely beyond impressive.  With people, jumping, flying, and flipping all over the show. And they truly do a good job of getting the energy in the room up, and people clapping and cheering, and being in ‘Awe’ and amazement, for the whole 2 hours of the evening entertainment.

IMG_0145 IMG_0166 IMG_0172

IMG_0203In the end though, the show really didn’t seem to have anything to do with Pirates.  Other then the pirate ship on the stage, that was used as a prop and the costumes.  Really it was some swearing, and sexual jokes, along with extremely fit acrobats, doing some very impressive stunts.

IMG_0208

Can’t complain though, it was tons of fun, and I would do it again! Not a bad way to spend an evening with a great group of people:)

Traintastic Adventures!!

There is just something about Antique things… They are full of so much character, and of course, history… Wouldn’t be considered antique if it wasn’t actually old! So that being said, why not go on the Antique Trolley Train here in Palma?!?! And well, us thinking this same thing, that’s precisely what we decided to do!

You begin at the train station in Palma, just near to Plaza de Espana, in the centre of Palma, and your final destination is a town called Soller. When you arrive to the Palma station, you see the large and fabulous ‘Art Deco’ wrought iron archway that is the entrance to the terminal, that’s when you ntrain (2)ow know you have arrived!! Not to mention, seeing the railroad tracks, that also kinda gives it away….. In any case, let the adventure begin! The train itself is very cool looking, and like I said, I love the fact that its antique, just makes me that much more excited to get on it. Once again, one of the best parts of doing these activities in the winter, is that there are barely any tourists, so you have all the space in the world. Well all the space in the train to be exact. In the summer these things tend to get packed, and your jammed in like a can of beans, but no matter what season you choose to do it in, it will still be enjoyable and memorable none the less.

Here we go! All Aboard!!

IMG_4929

Once you enter the train, is when your little time warp kicks in, your surrounded by polished wooden coaches, and the mountain style electric engine. You may find yourself questioning what year is it again?!? Although sometimes I question that exact thing after I have been travelling a long time in more remote places;) The train ride itself is a wee bit bumpy, but nothing uncomfortable. You have to keep in mind it’s all quite old, so it comes with the territory.

IMG_4932

However, the scenery is nothing less than incredible. A feast for your eyes, and a treat for your soul. This little Island is so vast in diversity, it’s an amazing thing to appreciate. As the train departs on the journey, you go through side roads, past little shops, and then long behold, you pop out right in the Centre. Once out of the city, you go through the local farms and farmland, just one of the many facets of Mallorca, you also get to pass through a couple of tunnels. The train doesn’t go to fast, so you really do get to absorb it all.

IMG_4246  IMG_4236  IMG_4241

Now comes the real spectacular beauty as you climb up and through the mountains, on your way to Soller. Spectacular. Is the exact word I would use to describe it. Ok, and maybe I would throw in magical, it’s also a bit like this too:)

You get to Soller, and it’s this charming little place tucked away in the mountains. There are plenty of nice little local eateries if you feel a nibble coming on. You can sample plenty of different things.

IMG_4225

IMG_4229  IMG_4234   IMG_4235

IMG_4257  After you have spent some time walking around, checking out shops, and snapping photos, you can now hop on the little Tram that takes you to the Port of Soller. It passes through all the narrow streets and past all the little cafes, then right in between, like back gardens of people’s houses, then finally arriving to the port, which is in a beautiful bay. Just when you thought your eyes couldn’t take any more splendor, you now get the cherry on top of your little cake. There’s a beautiful beach, lined with more shops, cafes, and restaurants, if you have not already sampled too many delight’s back in the town, then this is a gorgeous spot to have lunch. We held out to eat at the port. We picked a restaurant called ‘El Pirata’, sat outside on the patio, and took in the stunning view. The service here was super good, and we shared a combination of tapas, and literally every bite we took was ridiculously good! We loved it! and would highly recommend it. We both decided the only and best option to wash it down with, was a nice chilled glass of rose. Talk about tasty and refreshing!

IMG_4251  IMG_4252  IMG_4254  IMG_4262

What a kick ass and unforgettable day!! mixed with some fantastic company, and you got yourself just another, unbelievably awesome day in Mallorca. Happy Trails!
