A Luxury Stay In Radium Hot Springs

Steaming hot springs and refreshing outdoor pools aplenty, that is exactly what you will find when you visit Radium Hot Springs Village in British Columbia. The drive into Radium from Calgary was absolutely beautiful. I had not been there since I was a child, so everything was new to me. I was actually shocked that it was such a short drive from Calgary and that I had not visited more often.

As you cruise along the highway the mountains sprawl on the sides of the winding roads. On the outskirts of Radium, the road is carved through mountain walls. It feels so majestic and dreamy. I was driving through it all, with the snow lightly floating down, and in complete awe of the beauty that was engulfing my eyes.

The destination was Bighorn Meadows Resort. It is different than your typical resort, as these are self-contained condos. That being said, these are not just any condos, they are luxury condos. There is the opportunity to own a condo, or you can just spoil yourself and your loved ones with a rental getaway. I would not mind owning a holiday home here in the slightest.

The condos are incredibly spacious, much grander then you would expect walking up to the door. As you enter, the long hall leads past the two bedrooms onward to the open concept kitchen, dining and living room area. The view from the windows is spectacular.20191217_1132124108673947330798273.jpg

The fireplace is the perfect place to sit and unwind on a chilly wintry evening. As soon as I laid my eyes on it, I knew I would be planting myself right in front of it with my slippers on to unwind for the evening.

Why settle for one fire? Go ahead and double it up.

There was the most amazing welcome package waiting for me. It had everything a lady could ask for upon arriving. A welcome package after my own heart.

Plus a fridge and countertop stocked with snacks.

They do take great pride in making everyone at their resort feel extra special. Whether you are a condo owner on the property or a rental guest of a beautiful suite. They will tailor things to your individual wants or needs.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything down to a blender. If you stay for two weeks you will have everything you need to make gourmet meals, or even just enjoy a light meal with a view.

The balcony boasts a fantastic view as well as a barbeque and it makes it easy to envision gatherings with family and friends there.

The bedrooms have the most comfortable beds, and each room also has its own TV.

There are two bathrooms, one connected to each bedroom. The bathrooms are stocked with organic toiletries, which of course my nature-loving heart was instantly impressed with.

The master bathroom was huge. It was almost the same size as the bedroom. Hands down one of the largest and most spacious bathrooms I have ever used.

There is a jet tub in there to ease your tired muscles from outdoor adventures. If that is not enough there are even the outdoor hot tubs. Those were my happy place.

They are located right outside the gym and on the other side of the fence from the little ice rink.

A good workout, followed by a nice soak in the outdoor hot tubs surrounded by the snowy mountainous landscape – pure magic.

This destination is a golfers haven, as there are 2 golf courses right there and 12 others in the area, along with ski hills, lakes and year-round mountain activities. Did I mention hot springs?

The Radium Hot Springs pools are very accessible and nearby. When I say near, don’t forget we are in a village. Everything is near when you are here.

If you want to get more rustic and immerse yourself in nature you can take an hour’s drive to the Lussier Hot Springs. Set on the side of a river, you can soak in the mineral-rich hot springs and then enjoy a cold jump into the river. Every hot spring you visit will welcome you with the aroma of sulphur, or to some, it may be more like rotten eggs. It doesn’t take long for your nostrils to become accustomed to it. Once you’re in the water all your woes will melt away and the scent will be a thing of the past.

Don’t forget to remove your silver jewellery or the minerals in the water will turn your rings some very interesting colours. Nothing a good polish can’t fix.

A quick pitstop at the Fairmont Hot Springs is not a bad idea either. You can do a short hike up the mountain and see where the hot springs originated and take in an incredible view.

The condo at the Bighorn Meadows Resort had such a home away from home feel and was so comfortable. My trip was to short and I didn’t go explore any of the culinary scenes in the area. I simply took in the idyllic setting and fabulous ambiance that the resort had to offer. When something is that you good, sometimes you just need to bask in it. This was a place that was checked off my bucket list only to be put back on again.

The Enchanting Bridal Veil Falls In British Columbia

Strolling through what feels to be an enchanted forest full of mystical creatures and possibly little fairies flying around. That is the exact feel you will get when exploring the woodsy area around Bridal Veil Falls in British Columbia.

From the minute you enter the wooded area the smell of nature is intoxicating. It instantly fills your nostrils and then engulfs your whole being.

20190325_141102.jpgThere is a green moss that covers many of the trees along the branches and up the trunks. This blanket of moss adds to the enchanted feel.

With the streams effortlessly flowing the sound of water will create ambient music that will entice your ears. I don’t know about you; I find the sound of flowing water so soothing.

Ferns sprawl across the land in many areas. Which could also explain the amazing, clean, crisp, aromatic air.

20190325_141845.jpg

It was actually my first time in my life seeing wild ferns in their natural habitat. I am so accustomed to seeing ferns in homes as opposed to out in nature.

The walk to the waterfalls is a very short distance. As you approach the waterfalls, you can feel the energy pulsing.

20190325_143124.jpg

Even with small waterfalls the energy always runs high, or right off the side of a cliff. It always amazes me how majestic waterfalls of all sizes feel.

At Bridal Veil falls you can easily hike right up to the base of the falls where you will feel the mist lightly falling on your skin. While you sit there basking in all the splendour, you can feel your soul recharging. If you close your eyes, you can heighten your senses and absorb it even deeper into your cells. Like a powerful surge of pure healing bliss penetrating into the depths of your soul.

Of course, the shoes came off. I can’t be in the enchanted forest and not do some grounding a tree hugging.

I was also keeping my eyes open for the infamous Sasquatch, as apparently, this area has had many Sasquatch sightings over the years. I am very intrigued about this whole Sasquatch possibility.

Have a peek at the video I made of my visit to the falls.

If you find yourself in the Chilliwack area in British Columbia, then a pit stop at Bridal Veil Falls to stroll around the mystical forest is highly recommended.

Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia

Lounging in hot spring is always a wanted experience in my books. No matter where in the world I am, as soon as I see hot springs, I am all over it. Or should I say, straight into it. So clearly visiting a town that is named after its hot springs is a no brainer.

Harrison itself is a beautiful place, situated right on the shores of Harrison Lake, and surrounded by mountains, it is a prime vacation spot for adventure enthusiasts looking for all sorts of activities. Strolling through the town along the lake shores invigorates one with a very romantic feel.

If your on your life long search for the Sasquatch, apparently this would be the area to go on that expedition.

This particular visit though was all about the hot springs, we even stayed at the Harrison Hot Springs Resort so we were in crawling distance of the Springs. There is something incredible and completely rejuvenating about even just looking out your balcony window and seeing hot springs there. Just waiting and calling out to you.

There are three different outdoor pools to choose from. A family pool with a temperature of 28 c/ 83 f.

A lap pool with a temperature of 28°c/ 83°f, for those of you whom want to make sure you get your fitness in.

And my personal favorite, the adult hot pool with a beautifully toasty temperature of 37°c/98°f.

So there is the option to pool hop, or simply enjoy your ideal temperature all day. They also have an indoor swimming pool and hot pool if you fancy you fancy a more enclosed environment.

The ambiance of the Resort is very classy. Historical classy would be another way to describe it, as it dates back to 1886. The resort truly has history and class, two things that rate high in my appreciation list. The decor is very chic and warm, it makes you feel right at home. Seriously, I was contemplating moving in and never leaving. Even the bed was so comfortable I didn’t want to get out of it.
We spent most of our time in the Springs. What else would you expect in a situation such as this?

Our itinerary consisted of hot springs dip, then quick break for a freshen up, then hot springs dip, then get ready for dinner, then after dinner hot springs dip, then wake up and start the day with none other then a hot springs dip(after coffee that is… Priorities!), I am sure you get the picture.

I was loving it so much I could not resist hugging one of the resident tree’s.

IMG_5981 Yes that’s right, I am a tree hugger.

With four various restaurants to choose from to dine, it can be difficult to decide when you are not there for a few days to try them all. Oh, who am I kidding. It wasn’t hard for us to pick one.

The Copper Room has live music and a dance floor surrounded by linen covered tables. Dining and dancing is such a rare pleasure these days, it really made me feel as though I was transported back into a classic romantic movie. Although this evening was a romantic dinner with my sister – and I would not have had it any other way. Sister getaway’s are the best.

The music was fantastic, and the service and cuisine are to boast about. I was in a little slice of heaven, a dream that I didn’t want to wake up from.

Having the amenity to enjoy an after dinner evening soak in the springs, just made the evening unforgettable. In fact the whole experience at Harrison Hot Springs Resort will be one that I will not soon forget, and should the opportunity arise to revisit, I will be there in a heartbeat.

Nature And Horse Riding At Spruce Hill Resort In BC

I have been lucky enough to ride horses plenty of times in my life. Although far and few between, it is always an activity that I thoroughly enjoy. Except for that one time when I was riding a horse and it starting bucking and I jumped off. FYI – your not supposed to jump of a bucking horse.

Being at a resort located in the middle of a working ranch with horses roaming free around the property, only served to make us want to hop on one and enjoying a leisurely afternoon in the company of one of the most beautiful animals out there.

I though it was very cool that upon checking into Spruce Hills Resort  when were en route to our room, the horses that were freely strolling around walked straight up to us basically demanding a bit of attention. I was hooked right off the bat.

It is such a stunning and secluded feeling area, perfectly pristine for a horse ride. We booked in for an afternoon trail ride through the forest.

From the get go the horses were super chill. Which is exactly what I like. I was having flashbacks of the not so chill horses I have been on in the past.

There is something so soul soothing about being in the middle of nature on the back of a horse. Not gonna lie, I felt cool as heck.

My horse’s name was General, he was so obedient, and loved being told he was a good boy. I couldn’t help but continually tell him what a good boy he was, as he was soaking it right up and turning his ears and head towards me every time I said it.

What a relief that he was so obedient. I mean, I am pretty good at controlling a horse, but I ain’t no horse whisperer.

Well there was that time in South Africa, when I got to try my hand at it. I was locked in a training ring with the horse whose name was Dougal, and it was my job to get him to submit to me. Ummm, can you say adrenaline rush?! With him running in circles around me in this small ring, kicking and bucking, and me trying to maintain my classy composure while also not falling over from being dizzy, and keeping my eyes locked on him, praying that he would submit and not kick me. In the end, I won the battle of who’s going to control who. What in incredible, heart pumping, and unforgettable experience. So yes, I suppose you could say I have dabbled in horse whispering once upon a time.

This afternoon however was so relaxing, and I fell in love with my horse. My only problem was that the horse in front of me was having a bit of gas issues, and I happened to be downwind of them.

Seriously, he was letting them rip, left, right and center. Geez, com’on! Give a lady a break why don’t yah?! I wasn’t sure how many more times I could hold my breath. Alas, can’t win them all can we, those fresh farm smells will get yah.

Due to a sighting of a mama bear and her two cubs we had to cut our ride a bit short. It’s the time of year where bears are fattening up for winter, so there are plenty of run ins to be had. As we all know, you don’t want to mess with a mama bear. So turning back was the only way.

Once back at the barn, we decided what better way to finish off the excursion then to give the horses a good brushing. You always gotta return the awesome energy bestowed upon you.

An absolutely fab way to spend an afternoon. I truly didn’t want it to end. That’s okay though, all good things must come to an end – and I will absolutely be back for more. Until till next time….. Giddy Up!
