A Luxury Stay In Radium Hot Springs

Steaming hot springs and refreshing outdoor pools aplenty, that is exactly what you will find when you visit Radium Hot Springs Village in British Columbia. The drive into Radium from Calgary was absolutely beautiful. I had not been there since I was a child, so everything was new to me. I was actually shocked that it was such a short drive from Calgary and that I had not visited more often.

As you cruise along the highway the mountains sprawl on the sides of the winding roads. On the outskirts of Radium, the road is carved through mountain walls. It feels so majestic and dreamy. I was driving through it all, with the snow lightly floating down, and in complete awe of the beauty that was engulfing my eyes.

The destination was Bighorn Meadows Resort. It is different than your typical resort, as these are self-contained condos. That being said, these are not just any condos, they are luxury condos. There is the opportunity to own a condo, or you can just spoil yourself and your loved ones with a rental getaway. I would not mind owning a holiday home here in the slightest.

The condos are incredibly spacious, much grander then you would expect walking up to the door. As you enter, the long hall leads past the two bedrooms onward to the open concept kitchen, dining and living room area. The view from the windows is spectacular.20191217_1132124108673947330798273.jpg

The fireplace is the perfect place to sit and unwind on a chilly wintry evening. As soon as I laid my eyes on it, I knew I would be planting myself right in front of it with my slippers on to unwind for the evening.

Why settle for one fire? Go ahead and double it up.

20191203_003702-014212695772804840599.jpeg

There was the most amazing welcome package waiting for me. It had everything a lady could ask for upon arriving. A welcome package after my own heart.

20191217_1131236596363063803685134.jpg

Plus a fridge and countertop stocked with snacks.

They do take great pride in making everyone at their resort feel extra special. Whether you are a condo owner on the property or a rental guest of a beautiful suite. They will tailor things to your individual wants or needs.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything down to a blender. If you stay for two weeks you will have everything you need to make gourmet meals, or even just enjoy a light meal with a view.

20191217_111959-015869248257088765642.jpeg

The balcony boasts a fantastic view as well as a barbeque and it makes it easy to envision gatherings with family and friends there.

The bedrooms have the most comfortable beds, and each room also has its own TV.

20191204_000201-014035162266034055596.jpeg

There are two bathrooms, one connected to each bedroom. The bathrooms are stocked with organic toiletries, which of course my nature-loving heart was instantly impressed with.

20191203_003624-01179049804799049060.jpeg

The master bathroom was huge. It was almost the same size as the bedroom. Hands down one of the largest and most spacious bathrooms I have ever used.

20191202_180245-011907528637489595050.jpeg

There is a jet tub in there to ease your tired muscles from outdoor adventures. If that is not enough there are even the outdoor hot tubs. Those were my happy place.

20191217_111656-01666266063634334566.jpeg

They are located right outside the gym and on the other side of the fence from the little ice rink.

A good workout, followed by a nice soak in the outdoor hot tubs surrounded by the snowy mountainous landscape – pure magic.

20191204_001234-023102647845919277624.jpeg

This destination is a golfers haven, as there are 2 golf courses right there and 12 others in the area, along with ski hills, lakes and year-round mountain activities. Did I mention hot springs?

The Radium Hot Springs pools are very accessible and nearby. When I say near, don’t forget we are in a village. Everything is near when you are here.

If you want to get more rustic and immerse yourself in nature you can take an hour’s drive to the Lussier Hot Springs. Set on the side of a river, you can soak in the mineral-rich hot springs and then enjoy a cold jump into the river. Every hot spring you visit will welcome you with the aroma of sulphur, or to some, it may be more like rotten eggs. It doesn’t take long for your nostrils to become accustomed to it. Once you’re in the water all your woes will melt away and the scent will be a thing of the past.

20191217_112321-016688853862075664016.jpeg

20191202_172141-018671307461842767609.jpeg

Don’t forget to remove your silver jewellery or the minerals in the water will turn your rings some very interesting colours. Nothing a good polish can’t fix.

A quick pitstop at the Fairmont Hot Springs is not a bad idea either. You can do a short hike up the mountain and see where the hot springs originated and take in an incredible view.

20191217_111212-012052578848172852811.jpeg

20191205_120534-017936439724115366595.jpeg

The condo at the Bighorn Meadows Resort had such a home away from home feel and was so comfortable. My trip was to short and I didn’t go explore any of the culinary scenes in the area. I simply took in the idyllic setting and fabulous ambiance that the resort had to offer. When something is that you good, sometimes you just need to bask in it. This was a place that was checked off my bucket list only to be put back on again.

Northwest Territories – The Land That Lures You

There are some places in this world that hold special places in our hearts. A place that heals us, rejuvenates us and sets us free. These places seem to hold an energizing power over us like none other. Perhaps it is because we match the vibration of the land. Or, perhaps it has been such a part of our life that it seems to be engrained in our being.

In the essence of it all, one of those magical places is the Northwest Territories. The land where I roamed as a child and where I grew into a woman.

IMG_4292(1).JPG

With vast seemingly untouched forests, a multitude of serene lakes, rivers, a surprising amount of waterfalls, and an abundance of wildlife – you will be amazed and wowed at every turn.

IMG_20171026_185233_304.jpg

It is the land of the midnight sun in the summers and has a sky of colourful Northern lights that will dance for you all winter long. A splendour that makes the cold and dark winters more bearable and inviting.

The sunsets will pull you into a trance that will take you straight into a glistening stary night. You will be treated to endless shooting stars whizzing through the sky.

IMG_20181209_161150_350.jpg

When you stand amongst the trees with the wind gently breezing by, you will be surrounded and cradled by the healing energy and interconnectedness of it all. The sounds will soothe your soul.

This land is filled with the rich traditions of our ancestors and the spirits of the animals.

The pulsing of the land will fill you, penetrate your cells, and lure you to a place that feels so much like home in a dream that you often dream.

Northwest Territories is the land the sings the song of your soul.

Forever Young – The Art Of Getting Better With Age

Here I sit at 35 years young, and if I have learned one thing about ageing in my time being alive, it’s absolutely that ageing is an art just like a fine wine. We can choose to embrace it or we can resist it. Although I will say, the path of least resistance is far more rewarding.

I don’t mean resisting it in a way of doing things to assist our skin in maintaining it’s young youthful appearance. Let’s be real here, a ladies gotta keep a youthful glow on. I mean more in the resisting the fact that time will keep on ticking and there really isn’t anything we can do about that.

Instead of dreading it, it is about embracing it.

To me, every year that passes just means that I have had another incredible opportunity to live, and being alive today means that I still have this amazing opportunity to adventure the heck out of life. That means through the good, the bad, and the ugly times. It is all about where you put your focus. It is possible to see the positive in every situation.

My laugh lines show that I have lived a happy life full of joy. I have laughed so hard that I was slapping the table and no sound was actually coming out anymore on numerous occasions. Those are the best moments. Laughter is the best medicine.

That being said, a sure fire way to look younger no matter what age you are is to be happy. It makes one look radiant. To be truly happy we need to make sure we are letting go of any sort of resentment and grudges. If we choose to hold resentment and always point the finger at others for our problems, that means we are playing the victim in life, and that right there will age a person. The first place harbouring negative feelings shows up is in our faces. Instantly making us look a bit more haggard. Those negative feelings if not released will then begin to take form inside our bodies as ‘dis-ease;’ and illness.

If you feel wronged by someone, or as though someone is not good in your life, it is so much healthier to just forgive them, forgive yourself, send them high vibrations, and wish only good things for them. You get what you give in life. Life is just too short to waste it on low vibrational stuff.

Make cleaning out the clutter of your life a consistent thing. Clutter weighs you down holds you back and ultimately ages you. This goes for materials and people. You become who you surround yourself with, so choose wisely.

Let’s not forget also that a little self-care goes a long way.

That means taking some time for yourself as part of your lifestyle choice.

Some of my favourite self-care practices that don’t take a lot of time or money are –

  • Reading
  • Being in nature
  • Dry skin brushing
  • A rose petal bubble bath
  • An at home facial
  • Working out
  • Meditation
  • Listening to music
  • Writing
  • Colouring or painting

It is truly just about doing what makes you feel good. Small steps accumulate to big rewards. When you feel good you are a magnet for miracles and shine out high vibe energy to the world. Plus, when you give and give to others without also giving to yourself, you become drained, and it is impossible to give from an empty cup.

That brings me to another point. Make sure to eat healthy and whole foods. You are what you eat. Think of it this way, the more vibrant, colourful and fresh food you eat – the more colourful and vibrant you will be. I am not one to eat a certain way. I eat a variety of things but I love veggie smoothies. I will say though, I am very mindful of where my food comes from and the life it lived.

Thoughts become things, and the more you think beautiful thoughts and tell yourself beautiful things, the more you will transform into beauty. No matter what shape, size, age or ethnicity one is if they are full of wonderful thoughts and energy you can’t help but take notice. They just exude beauty.

Of course, we must remember to take care of our skin! Nourish it, love it, protect it, supplement so the cells renew and restore themselves. I love doing things as naturally as possible. So for me, it is a great skincare line, top of the line supplements and nutrients, whole healthy and healing foods, and I would even throw in some micro-needling – if that is your thing.

All in all, love life and it will love you back. Age is just a number and life is an absolute gift, so stop and smell the flowers as often as possible. Art is beautiful and so is your age.

Takakkaw Waterfalls And The Whiskey Jack Wilderness Hostel

Solo adventures in pristine destinations. That is a win-win if you ask me. There is nothing like being disconnected from the world, and totally immersed and connected to nature. That is where ultimate recharging happens. High heeled in the city and barefoot in the bush.

Plus taking myself on the best ‘me time’ dates ever is just what I do.

IMG_20180812_115016_838.jpg

I have been ever so grateful to have experienced a few various wilderness hostels this summer. It has been on my bucket list for years and this year I made it happen.

Recently I made my way to Takakkaw Falls in Yoho National Park. These falls are some of the highest in Canada, and their remote and lush location simply adds to their magical majestic splendor.

20180828_103030.jpg

They are only a summer destination as the road to visit them is closed in the winter.

Located in perfect view and a short hiking distance to the waterfalls is The Whiskey Jack Hostel.

20180812_091835.jpg

It is a wilderness hostel where you get basic and very comfortable accommodations.

20180812_091515.jpg

There is no cell phone reception, triple decker bunk beds, a kitchen with a propane stove and refrigeration, and there are even toilets and showers in the rooms, which is a big luxury as the other wilderness hostels I stayed at only had outhouses on offer.

I absolutely love the tranquility of being in nature, and being totally in the moment doing nothing other then recharging with natures endless abundance of energy.

20180812_091858.jpg

The beds were actually super comfy, and truly nothing could beat that view. I sat there in the evening with me tea, and in the morning with my coffee.

20180828_103215.jpg

Of course I also did spend a lot of time barefoot connecting with the earth. Yet there were also a lot of slugs.

20180811_211740.jpg

It was like a little slug mine field, which means watching my step while I was running around barefoot took some careful placement. I wasn’t really interested in experiencing what it would feel like to squish a slug with my barefoot. Not only that, they seemed so happy doing there little missions, I would have not wanted to abruptly end that for one of them.

Right from The Whiskey Jack hostel there are plenty of trails to hike, there are also plenty of wilderness campsites located in various spots throughout the forest in the area. Another activity I want to return to enjoy.

Hiking up to the Takakkaw Falls is so amazing and so easy from the hostel.

20180812_091904.jpg

You can feel the power and energy pulsating all around you. There is the Yoho glacier very near by.

20180813_092709.jpg
To the left in the distance behind the trees is the Yoho Glacier

From that the glacier river that flows past the waterfalls.

20180828_103110.jpg

As you walk the path just over the bridge towards the waterfalls the surroundings turn so lush. It is impossible to not feast your eyes on the beautiful shades of green. Within moments on that path you will begin to feel the mist from the falls. Refreshing and cold, it is a spectacular feeling.

20180813_092758.jpg

Getting up close and personal is extremely accessible. No matter what your fitness level it, the hike is so easy, and you literally just walk right up to the base of the falls.

IMG_20180812_114315_229.jpg

That right there is where the ultimate surge of energy comes. Just when you thought the energy could not be any higher, you feel the pure boundless energy right at the base.

This whole experience left me feeling on top of the world, and full of over flowing recharged energy. My vibrations have been soaring ever since.

If you have not already been, I highly suggest getting yourself to Takakkaw falls, booking into the wilderness hostel or pitching a tent, turning off your cell phone as it ain’t going to work anyway, and recharging your awesome energy in one of the most energetically abundant places I have ever had the privilege to experience.

Prior to this experience I never imagined that a glacier would feel this incredible. The power of nature is all over it.

20180705_162149.jpg

The sad part is, is that the glacier is melting at an accelerated rate, which means in the next 100 years it may very well be pretty much gone. So now is the time to get a good look at it.

     5. The Iconic Peyto Lake

20180705_161933.jpg

Where dreams are made of. A short uphill hike will take you to this dreamy spot, where you will see that mother nature did not hold back in creating this canvas to be one of mind-blowing proportions.

20180705_162026.jpg

The colour of the water is so vibrant it will create waves of inspirational emotion in your mind.

It is so easy to sit and get lost in the splendour of it all. Taking your imagination to new heights. It will make you wish you could stay forever.

Let’s not forget – one of the main reasons to visit the Icefields Parkway is to simply enjoy the endless array of beauty that you will not even believe. Seeing is believing, yet when it is that good, it is still hard to believe.

A feast for the eyes, and a treat for the soul.

What can I say? The best things in life truly are free!

5 tips to simplify your life, live minimally, and feel free

Freedom feels so good. In fact, for myself, it is one of the best feelings in the world. One of the best ways to create more freedom in your life so to simplify your life, and live minimally.

Having and creating more space in your life means you will have more space for new and amazing things to come in. Such as more travel, flexibility to enjoy a little more spontaneity, more money, and peace of mind in general.

Over the years I have downsized more and more. It seems every time I would leave the country to go travelling, I would come home only to downsize even more. Bit by bit my materials became less and less.

Although it is not just about minimizing your materials, it is also about clearing the space in your mind. It all goes hand in hand.  But, by simplifying your life and all the various facets of it, you will free up your whole space, and welcome so much more awesome energy into your life.

By taking actions steps everyday to free up your life, it becomes easier and you naturally become in alignment within yourself. When you are in alignment, life won’t just give you lemons, it will give you the whole lemonade stand and a helper.

Here are 5 tips that have been tried, tested and proven true in my life to simplify and create so much more freedom.

  1. Reduce Clutter – I feel like this is self-explanatory, however, it can be so easy to let things build up, and before you know, there is just stuff all around you. I find that not only does meaningless stuff create stagnant energy in our lives, but it also blocks our creative flow. Anything that is just lying around and taking up space, can go. Unless something it has sentimental value, it is not necessary to keep around. Out the door, it goes for me.
  2. Think Before You Buy – ‘Do I really need this, or do I simply want it?!’ That is the question I so often hear myself saying. We have all done it, seen something shiny and pretty, and decided right on the spot that we had to have it, only to get it and have it accumulate dust. Never to be used, and only to be a space taker. When I come across something I like, that I wasn’t in the market to get, I always have a good think about it first. The majority of the time, I will leave and go think about it for a day or more. If a few days pass and I am still thinking about it, then I will go back and get it, and if it was still there waiting for me, it was meant to be, and if it is gone, then it wasn’t meant to be in my life. That helps keep the clutter down in my life.
  3. Choose Experiences Over Stuff – less stuff means more adventure. I don’t know about you, but I live for adventure and awesome experiences. It is so much more enriching then mass amounts of material stuff. My experiences that I have had around the globe are priceless, and if having less stuff means more of that, then I am in it for the long haul. Plus the less money you spend on stuff the more money you can spend on travel and adventure.
  4. Make A List And Be A Doer – accomplishing things just feels so satisfying. No matter where I am, I love being a doer. When you make a list, it helps you visualize exactly what you want to achieve, and will be a sure way for you not to forget everything, it also pushes you to be a doer. You get things done and don’t let things pile up in life. When you let things pile up, it wears a person down, as you are always in a stress state of having way too much to do. Placing those check marks beside the things you finished, feels so good.
  5. Forgive And Release – emotional clutter is a thing. When we hold on to negative feelings or resentment, it holds us back and stops the flow in our life. A lot of time it’s about forgiving ourselves over others. It is so easy to be hard on ourselves, blaming ourselves for our hardships, putting ourselves down for not being as far along in our pursuits as we would like. Also, when we feel others have wronged us, and purposely did negative things towards us, it is all too easy to point fingers and hang onto anger and resentment towards them. The reality is, these feeling are truly only hurting ourselves. By forgiving and releasing the situation, whether it is towards yourself or someone else, and doing it sincerely and from your heart, you open a massive space for amazing energy to flow into your life. That doesn’t mean you need to keep anyone in your life that is holding you down, but you can still forgive and let it go. Total freedom is what lies on the other side of holding on.

When you create space in your life for more freedom, whether that is time freedom, mental freedom, emotional freedom, financial freedom, and so on – whatever it is that freedom is to you, you open up your energy space to many more wonders of life. When you are not bogged down by clutter in all it’s various forms, you then are standing up tall and reeling in the highest and most fulfilling life you can imagine.

For me, I love having the freedom to pack up at the drop of a hat and go explore the world. I love having the freedom to go and help people when they are in need, and I love to have the mental freedom to enjoy life to the fullest.

Freedom, feels amazing.

Spring Rejuvenation With Some TLC At Inner Balance Spa

Nurturing my body, going the extra mile to promote healing and restoration, particularly after winter, it’s something I don’t falter on. After all, if you love your body, it will love you back.

Exfoliation and detox play a large part in my daily self-care regime. It is so important to renew our skin, lymphatic system, and promote overall renewal in our bodies as a whole. Plus, it keeps your skin and body youthful and supple for so much longer in life.

I am a massive advocate of dry skin brushing for that exact reason, and I do it on the daily, which I talk about, it, and all it’s benefits here.

Although sometimes, a person needs a little extra pampering and an even deeper exfoliation. Done by someone other than yourself. Especially when spring has sprung! Well according to the calendar. If you look outside mother nature may tell you a different story, as she is a trickster around here.

Lately, my self-care routine has brought on a bit of an infrared sauna addiction.

I wanted to take my spring detox to another level. After doing some research to find a little oasis that had the amenities I was looking for, I came across Inner Balance Spa, which is located in the Kensington area of Calgary.

It immediately stuck out to me as it is eco-friendly and all the products they use are derived from natural and organic ingredients.

Anyone who knows me knows that I live a life of natural living and healing as much as possible, so this made Inner Balance Spa an A+ in my books already.

For those reasons, it was my spa of choice for some rejuvenation.

I found the decor and atmosphere very welcoming.

It is bright, ambient, and immediately brings a wave of relaxation over you when you walk in.

I was loving the wide variety of organic skin care products, including a fine line of natural make-up, as well as a beautiful line of essential oils, which infuse the room with an incredible healing scent.

I pretty much want one of everything on those perfectly laid out displays.

You seriously can not take me anywhere near the top of the line natural skin and beauty products. I am a minimalist in most things, except when it comes to my self-care and the products I use on and in my body.

The infrared sauna room is very warming to the soul and has an extremely therapeutic feeling all in itself.

The sauna also has light therapy built in, and you can change the colours to your specific needs.

There is a print out which tells you what each colour corresponds with healing-wise in your body. It is very enjoyable to switch it up to your individual needs. I was in my happy place.

Sauna

With a shower located right in the sauna room, and some of their organic body wash and lotion there for you to test out, the infrared sauna session soon feels like a mini spa day.

It was apparent to me, that all of the staff are highly trained. Their services range from massage, facials, body scrubs, infrared sauna, onward to acupuncture, and even nutritional consulting.

With so many great treatments to choose from, it is hard to narrow down a selection. I did contemplate a package, as they have fabulous packages on offer, as well as a ‘refreshment of the month’ package. Decisions, decisions.

Although, I was just looking to get a nice deep exfoliation to rid my skin of all the winter build up, and renew my body for spring. So, I booked in for their basic body scrub called ‘The Renewal’. The name said it all, and even though I say it is the basic choice, it by no means feels basic.

It is a 45-minute process that includes a body scrub + body polish + a 10-minute steam + an organic apricot oil moisturizing treatment.

MIB11

The quaint and cozy steam room is built into the shower that is also located directly in your treatment room, so it provides perfect convenience.

After a detailed scrub down and polish, which feels absolutely incredible, you then step into the steam to help open your pores and take the nourishment in even deeper.

I loved the steam! It not only feels good on the skin, but it feels great on the lungs too. I easily could have stayed in there longer than 10 minutes.

After my steam room session, I was back on the table for the application of the apricot oil moisturizing treatment.

Oh my word, the smell of that oil was absolutely intoxicating, and the feel of my skin was total silk!

I left this treatment feeling divine. My whole energy and being felt lighter and refreshed. Not only is spring in the air, but I felt like I had a spring in my step.

I am a firm believer in body scrubs as part of my self-care now.

I would highly suggest everyone get one. Male or female.

If you want to maintain a silky smooth glow all your year round, I was recommended to receive a body scrub 4 times a year, once with each season.

All the details are covered at Inner Balance Spa. They even have an array of fresh complimentary teas on offer to soothe your soul from the inside.

Um, yes please!

I am so happy with my choice to visit Inner Balance Spa, and even more grateful for the great detail they put into their clients and into my own experience there. Total refreshment every time. How To Feel Safe When You Are Traveling Solo As A Female

Solo travel. It can sound so daunting sometimes. Time and time again I have had so many people question me in regards to the matter. ‘How do you do it?’, ‘Aren’t you afraid?’.

I literally just do it, and don’t really think about it. It is something that comes very naturally to me. I love traveling alone, although if you are in the company of a very good travel companion(which can be hard to find) then I much prefer traveling with someone at times. It truly depends on where I am going. Every continent and culture is different.

There are pros and cons to everything in life though. When you are alone, you get charged higher prices for everything, you get harassed more(again, depending on which continent your on), and when you get lost and have no idea where you are going, you have absolutely no one to lean on. It’s all on you baby.

Although on the plus side, when you are alone you get to go where and when you want, there is nobody holding you back. You meet plenty of more people and locals where you are, and there are always people that want to help you. If you are with someone, people tend to leave you alone and not reach out in the same way.

However if you are alone, there are some tactics you can use to make sure you feel safe.

Always be aware of your surroundings and situations. Kind of like how your peripheral vision works, you want to make sure your keeping mental tabs of what is happening around you. When you are aware that also means you are alert, which in turn will help you stay safe. I mean if someone was following you, it would be a lot easier to pick up if you are being aware. Be very careful going wandering alone when you have been drinking.

Make eye contact with people when you speak with them. You can tell so much by looking into someones eyes. If they are dodgy it will for sure show in their eyes and in their mannerisms. It has always helped me read people much faster.

Don’t wear expensive flashy things. It will only draw attention to you and make you a target. When I am traveling in destinations that have high crime rates and poverty, I stick to handmade local jewelry, and I don’t carry a lot of cash or valuables with me.

I always carry a purse, but I always choose a purse that goes across my body and closes very well. That way it stays close to me and is not easily broken into. If I am on a bus and sleeping, I make sure that I am holding my bag straight beneath my hands. That way if anyone tried to grab it I would already have a hold of it.

It doesn’t hurt to get a money belt for under your clothes as well.

Take a photo copy of your passport. I usually lock my passport in the safe where ever I stay, that way I know it will be safe. In place of it, I always have a photo copy and an extra photo ID.

Having a cheap cell phone with a local SIM where ever you go, will make sure that you always have a means of contact. If you ever feel scared or alone its so nice to be able to call or text someone. Also if you are heading on a long trek with some dodgy traveling, you can make sure to keep in extra contact with help if you needed it.

Make friends with locals. It has also really been a great advantage to feeling safe when I make friends with locals along the way. If I get good vibes off someone I will always strike up a chat. When you are with a local, people will leave you alone and the other plus is you will get local prices in the places that way up charge tourist. Trust me, I have been ripped off a couple times in my travels. But generally the locals always love to meet foreigners, and I have made some amazing life long friends this way.

Definitely carry a lock. If you are staying at hostels and things, the majority of them will have lockers in the rooms for your valuables and bags. Now make sure its a good quality lock as locks can be broken. There was a time in Malawi that I had a funny feeling in my gut when I checked into this hostel, so instead of locking my bag in the lockers, I stuffed mine under the bed. It could barely fit, but I got under. Turned out that the rooms and lockers got broken into, passports and valuables taken, and since I listened to my gut, my stuff was fine.

Which leads me to another point. Always listen to your intuition. We have it for a reason and it is always right. Any time I ignored it, something went wrong.

Make sure to always have a little stash of backup money tucked away. Being prepared for everything and a little more will always keep you at ease.

Sometimes you just have to be strong minded. When I was traveling in Central/South America and Africa, I had to just be strong at times. Particularly with how I carried myself. Men can be very forward and quite aggressive. So I would always make sure to walk confidently and with purpose, and if they did harass me I would make it clear not to come to close simply with my demeanor and body language. It would usually end the men whom were trying to be pushy telling me I am very strong(I was just a well seasoned traveler) and they would retreat.

Dress appropriately. Unless harassment and male attention is what you want, it is better to be a little more modest then usual. It is best not to attract the wrong kind of attention when you are alone.

Always be very mindful of your alcohol and recreational fun. All it takes is for you to turn your back for one second to have something slipped into your drink. You never know what a stranger will give you, so be very aware and cautious.

Don’t arrive to a new place after dark. After dark is when things always get more dangerous. If you are going somewhere new, try and get there when it is still light, and only take registered taxi’s. Also it is very wise to have a room or bed pre-booked before you arrive.

Solo travel as a female generally does just come down to common sense. I have done loads of global solo travel and had the most amazing experiences of my life. Some tough of course, but that is to be expected no matter where or what you are doing with life.

Also it is so easy to meet other travelers along the way, and many times you end up traveling for awhile with some of them. It can happen so often I would sometimes have to purposely choose to go on, on my own, so I could enjoy a bit of ‘me time’ again.

There truly is something so invigorating and freeing about solo travel. If you have often thought about it, and yet havn’t, then I highly suggest giving it a go! It will shape your mindset in a whole new way. Happy Trails!

Relishing In The Unique Beauty Of Early Winter In The NWT

With Winter having arrived in its early stages, there is always this unique and stunning beauty of the area around Hay River, NWT. Being built on the shores of the ninth largest lake in the world, the Great Slave Lake, and in very close proximity to a few different waterfalls – the ice always freezes over.

As it is still the early stages, the freeze is not totally complete yet. I absolutely love appreciating the abundance of beauty this area has to offer all year round. With each changing season, the beauty alters to another unique state.

With the weather being so mild, I decided it was the perfect day to go on some ‘me time’ adventures, and do a bit of cruising. One of my favorite past times in life is my solo adventures, and going on scenic drives. I figured I would go to the beach and check out the lake before heading out to Alexandra Falls.

The beach was so pristine and tranquil.

With a thin sheet of ice blanketing the top, no wind, and not a sound other then my shoes crunching in the snow to be heard. It was incredible. Moments like that totally sooth the soul.

In the distance not far out you could still see a bit of water where the ice has not covered yet. It will not take very long to be totally covered with the cold snap that is due to come in.

I was feeling so relaxed on this peaceful walk, it was one of those soul soothing moments for sure.

I hit the road towards Alexandra falls after I was done frolicking on the beach. A nice 40 minute drive. The snow was lightly falling, and it added to the early winter feel. Cruising on the highway and being in my thoughts is another very relaxing place for me to be.

As I was walking on the trail to the falls viewing point I could already hear water flowing, so I knew the falls were not frozen over yet. I was so pleasantly surprised with the showcase that the falls had on display.

Half frozen, half flowing. Such a stunning contrast. It is one of those things that you can get lost in. It is so easy to just sit and stare, and listen to the sounds, it becomes mesmerizing. Well it’s without a doubt healing and soul soothing.

There was beauty to be appreciated from all angles.

I took it in as long as I could before getting a chill. The wind out there was a bit nippy.

Seriously though, the sights here never get old. Growing up here, I must have done the tour hundreds of times, and yet, every time is better then the last. It is never boring or run of the mill, instead it always just makes me feel so darn amazing.

I highly suggest getting the North on your bucket list.

The Beautifully Tranquil Riverside Bed & Breakfast In Kamloops, BC.

There are those places in life that you visit and they leave a lasting and memorable imprint in your mind. You know in your mind that you will return one day, you just don’t know exactly when.

Riverside Bed & Breakfast in Kamloops, British Columbia is one of those such places for me. I stumbled across this B&B a few years ago when I was passing through Kamloops. It was one of those golden finds. I had randomly decided I wanted to spend the night and do some wine tasting when I was in the area, and after searching and calling around, having not much luck finding availability, I came across this stunning place.

At the time I was instantly in love with it. The property is immaculate, the rooms very chic, much more then you would expect from a B&B, and the energy of the place is very high vibe. I knew then that I would return one day.

I recently had the pleasure of revisiting, and spending another night. Let me tell you, it absolutely did not disappoint and if anything, it only got better with time. It was as immaculate and stunning as I remembered.

I was instantly in love with the room. It was spacious, bright, open and had an incredible view of the lake.

All of the rooms at the B&B share the same incredible view. Basking in that beauty is a fabulous way to start your day with your morning coffee.

Although, the king size bed was so comfy, I didn’t want to get up in the morning.

Not wanting to miss a minute of enjoying this experience and soaking it all in, was enough to make me crawl out of this blissful bed in the end.

The breakfast was superb as well. You are welcomed into a bright, open, and classy dining room.

The table is set as though you are in a upscale restaurant and the culinary experience is of the same caliber.

You will not be leaving hungry after this classy breakfast.

This time around I was the only guest at the property, as summer is finished, it’s the end of fall, and its not quite winter, it is that in- between time.

My previous visit, there were other guests, and we had great chat at the breakfast table, sharing stories and making new friends. Although I also enjoy the ‘me time’ experience’s, indulging in some of my favorite company….. My own! Mind you, I had some pretty fab conversation with the owner Cynthia, as she spoiled me with scrumptious eats.

As per the first visit, this was once again a truly unforgettable experience, and I will make it a point to return again when I find myself in the area. With the third time being the charm, so they say, I am curious if it can still continually surpass the last visits.

You surely leave feeling better then when you came.

I would love to hear where some of your favorite unforgettable spots are, that you have casually stumbled across?
